Two and a half years later....

Promised a long time ago. Animated to try again through GD and the past posts.
Here I go:

1. I am German.
2. And I live there, too.
3. In Hamburg.
4. That is in the north.
5. Yes, we do have flushing toilets.
6. A question I was frequently asked when I lived in the states.
7. Suprise, suprise - the 21st Century has reached Europe...
8. Certainly more in some Countries then others.
9. But that is something I don´t care to go on discussing.
10. So, now you that I am German.
11. I have two children.
12. One son.
13. One daughter.
14. I am not married.
15. I´ve done that.
16. And it did not end succesfully.
17. My ex is not the father of my two children.
18. That would be the guy I live with.
19. In a small appartment.
20. We would like to move to a bigger place.
21. But want to stay in the district we live in now.
22. And that is hardly affordable.
23. Just to give you a hint of what I mean.
24. 2 bedroom appartments cost $1500 and up.
25. And since I am still on partle maternity leave,
26. with "partle" I mean I only work a little from home
27. and therefore get paid little...
28. Maybe I shoud start playing the lottery
29. and buy a place if I ever win.
30. As if that would ever happen.
31. Another option is, to stick here for a little longer
32. and move to the States as soon as Mr. KH is done with his degree.

John peacefully passed away yesterday.

Just wanted to let you know...

It is true. One can never only live on the bright side of life...

Shortly before x-mas we recieved the sad news that our beloved John has pancreatic cancer, with only a few months left. He did farley well over the holiday, concidering all the visitors he had around (big sis with hubby and all sibblings came over). But just as the new year started he had a change for the worse. Not only that the symptoms of the cancer were putting him down, on top he suffered an ileus bringing him into the emergency OR. Since then he is trying to recover from the operation. At first in the hospital, now at home. The doctors say now it is only a matter of days... But he is hanging in there, still humorous, looking on the bright side. I guess it is always the family and friends suffering more, not wanting to let go.

The other depressing news that hit us at almost the same time, was that Mr. KHs dad also has cancer. Not as agressive as Johns but also not cureable. His liftime expects are a couple of more years...

Then just two weeks ago, at the regular doctors check-up, we discovered that babygirl stopped gaining weight. Shock! So we took her to the hospital for several tests. Thankfully after three days of worry, all results were negative. The only thing they discovered was that babygirl had a hidden pneumonia. And that she seems to be a very bad eater. Since then she recieved antibiotics, healing her pneumonia, and getting fed solids, which she seems to prefer over the freshly brewed milk from the milkbar.

With all those negative news rattling down on us, we are still up and about, trying not to loose our humor and sarcasm...

Mr. KH is very busy with his job, I am back to work, homeoffice,the boy has a very busy play schedule, keeping me occupied in the afternoons.

And now... Now I just noticed I am out of coffee. RATS.

Hey Babes,

Long time no talk. Yeah, I'm not going to do that "getting to know you" questionnaire that's been bouncing through cyberspace. Perhaps one day I'll create an interesting questionnaire; those questions are lame.

I've been following politics and watching all the debates. I feel ready for Super Tuesday. Are you babes going to caucus? Any thoughts that you care to share?

The writing bug has been buzzing about and I've been trying to find the time to do something about it. I've started reading many books but have since gotten bored with them. I have, however, started Proust was a Neuroscientist and it seems to have promise...yes, yes, we've already established that I'm a nerd.

I've been loving the "warm" weather. Perhaps I've finally acclimated, since this weather would have seemed cold whilst living in NM. I'm getting excited for camping/hiking/backpacking/canoeing this Spring and am beginning to think seriously about getting back into shape. Hey, "thinking seriously" is a start! :p

How's the baby, KH? What's new with you babes?

Hope you were good this year and that Santa will bring you lots and lots of presents.

X-mas Eve we will be at home, together with Mr.KHs mom and his sister. On the 25th we will be at Mr. KHs dad. After dinner we will be going to my moms. There we will also see my sis and all of her family.

So as you can see, this year we are really having a family get together. Since one never knows if it might not be the last one...
